Tungsten Carbide is the general name for materials which consist of hard particles of metallic carbide bonded with relatively soft metals. It is comparatively weak in tension and thus it is desirable to use it under compressive stress. In cold forging tools however, tensile stress cannot be avoided during forging. Therefore the compressive strength in tension of the tool material is also very important.
Hence it is of great relevance to apply the proper carbide grade in terms of WC grain size, cobalt content, etc., which depends on the die shape and the loading conditions in cold forging, compression or tension/impacts.
DIJET has developed a series of tungsten carbide grades designed for cold forging tools, NC alloys, by enhancing the strengh and corrosion resistance of cobalt.
Besides, DIJET carbide punches extends the life cycle of the tool more than twice (ca. 60.000 shots) and shows stability by replacing a conventional carbide with NC14 for example. It also manufactures finished tungsten carbide tools, like forging dies, punches and preformed carbide blocks for dies and punches, which are all available for the customers. Preformed carbide blocks can be delivered for finishing process in the user´s tool shop and simple shaped preforms are supplied in very short time.
Please note that more complexed shaped preforms can be evaluated and designed with the help of CAD data supplied by the users.
