STRECON Product Features & Benefits

The STRECON® stripwound container offers 50-70% higher loadability compared to conventional high-pressure vessels made of solid steel. The explanation is found in the combination of the stripwinding technique and the applied materials. Information on the stripwinding principle can be found on this site.

Because of the increased tool loadability, fully elasticity, and easy handling, researchers and developers increasingly take advantage of the STRECON container technology when conducting their piston cylinder apparatus experiments. Today, STRECON designs and builds high-pressure tool equipment that runs at 70-90 Kbar pressure level or higher.

Other key benefits to be mentioned

  • No plastic deformation of the container resulting in a very reliable pre-stressing performance and long service life of the STRECON container itself
  • Improvement of the service life of the carbide inserts (i.e. carbide cores) due to the increased state of pre-stressing
  • Enhanced tool safety, also in terms of reducing the risk for explosive ruptures
  • Easy tool handling due to reduced tool size and weight
  • Double tool stiffness (E≈400 GPa) when the winding core of the Stripwound Container is made of tungsten carbide

High Pressure Experiment Containers

The picture illustrates a typical example of a STRECON tool system for high pressure experiments. The tool shown at the rear is an assembled high-pressure container tool ready for experimental operation.
