STRECON Cooling System
It is critical to control the temperature of the high-pressure synthesis system. High temperature is required when undertaking the synthesis process, but the same high temperature is indeed destructive for the tool parts and components surrounding the capsule itself.
The STRECON cooling system consists of thin plates of a ductile steel material. For example, a system size of Ø1250 mm only requires a thickness of the cooling plate of approx. 25 mm. The plates are mounted on each side of the stripwound container. When tightening the screws, the cooling plates are pressed down to the target area of cooling. The system is 100% leakage proof up to some 10 Bar, secured by special O-rings and the assigned closing force.
The basic product idea of the STRECON cooling plates is to channel cooling water as close to the tungsten carbide die as possible in order to:
- Optimize the cooling of the carbide die insert ensuring a better die performance and service life
- Limit the need of cooling water
- Limit the need of power required in order to reach the required synthesis temperature
- Protection of the stripwound container from excess heating

The cooling plates are mounted on each side of the stripwound container. The thickness of these plates are just 25 mm for a container system of Ø1250 mm. The water flow is directed into the targeted area for die cooling. |
